Today, the World Travel Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. Turks and Caicos Frequently Wins Awards The Turks and Caicos regularly receives recognition as a top vacation destination. In 2018, TripAdvisor named Grace Bay as the world's best beach. In 2015, Providenciales was named the world's best island. About The Palms Turks and Caicos The Palms fronts the white sand beaches of Grace Bay, a glorious jewel set amid 12 acres of fragrant, landscaped gardens. Its five buildings form a semi-circle around a multi-million dollar infinity pool, and the pool setting boasts a swim-up bar and restaurant. Not to be overshadowed by the impressive colonial lodging structures is The Palms' 25,000 square-foot-spa, complete with reflecting pools and serene gardens, and featuring a long canal that fans out into eight coral-stone fronds, each housing a treatment room. The inspiration for The Palms comes from the designs of Oliver Messel, who, in the early '60's was noted for his use of the materials and traditions of island architecture on his adopted island of Barbados. Messel created a mix of baroque and classical design using features such as slender Greek columns, flattened arches, and white-on-white interiors. The Palms pays homage to Messel with its use of cool Barbadian coral stone in its five buildings, the incorporation of open, island-inspired architecture, and by naming its magnificent ballroom after him.

How to Go Back to Work With Energy and Enthusiasm
Vacations are important way to recharge, rejuvenate and enjoy life. Taking a vacation helps reduce stress, maintain your health and improve your general well-being. However, returning to work or school afterwards can be challenging. The feeling we experience when returning to our normal routine of waking up early and rushing off to work is sometimes called "social jet lag". Symptoms might include: feeling sluggish, struggling to sleep, indigestion, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, clumsiness, lack of energy and general fatigue. Here are some tips on how to ease back into work while maintaining fond memories of your vacation. Don’t skip breakfast The mad rush of the morning pre-work routine makes it easy to forget the most important meal of the day -- breakfast. Start your day off with a breakfast packed with whole grains and protein. Avoid sugar-filled pastries, that, while giving you a quick boost, can result in an insulin crash that turns your post-vacation workday into a slow slog. Move and stretch If you find your energy levels fading in the days following your trip, don’t simply brew a pot of coffee. Get moving instead. A quick walk around your workspace and some basic stretches can be reinvigorating. A bit of exercise gives you the boost you need to make it through the day. Get your heart going and blood pumping to chase away afternoon fatigue following a trip. Drink water If you're feeling tired and lethargic following your vacation, you may simply be dehydrated. Flying is infamously dehydrating, and this condition can last well into the next day following your trip. Drinking water ensures you can maintain better blood flow to your brain, which helps keep you active, alert and happy following your vacation. Schedule an extra "recuperation" day If you do a plan an especially active or hectic vacation, or if you're flying between time zones, you should try schedule at least one day to recuperate and adjust back to working life. Spend this day doing laundry, preparing to go back to work, and just taking a rest. Come back in the middle of the week It's often cheaper to book a flight in the middle of the week. Afternoons seem to be the busiest for flying, so it's hard to find good airfares in the afternoon. On some short-haul routes, early mornings are also rush hour, as business travelers start their one-day in-and-out quick trips. On top of that, it’s much less daunting to come back to work for a shortened week. You only have a couple of days of work to get through before another mini-vacation on the weekend. Start planning your next vacation One of the best parts about travel is not the actual travel itself, but the process of planning your trip. According to a study published in the journal Applied Research in Quality of Life, just planning or anticipating your trip can make you happier than actually taking it. Happiness increased during the planning stages of the trip because vacationers were looking forward to the good times ahead. So, as soon as you get back from one vacation, start immediately planning for the next to keep up your momentum. Where Are You Going This Fall? Vacations are an important part of maintaining your health and your quality of life. This fall, why not plan a trip to Turks and Caicos? The Palms sits at the heart of Grace Bay, the world’s best beach. Whether it’s snorkeling, swimming, diving, or beachcombing, there is plenty of fun for all ages. Indulge in a luxury Turks and Caicos resort vacation that leaves you re-energized -- contact us so we can help you plan your getaway.

Beach Workout Tips: Get In Shape at a Caribbean Spa Resort
Whether you're planning a Caribbean vacation or just spending the summer around town, beach season is just around the corner. This means it's time to uncover. And for many of us, the thought of uncovering ourselves at the beach makes us want to get in shape! It's also never too late to start getting active. In fact, there are some good workouts you can do right on the beach in front of The Palms Resort. Here are some tips, plus a short introduction to our gym. Simple Beach Workouts to Get in Shape Here are seven exercises you can do right on the beach. All you need is an exercise mat, some sunscreen. Tips for Getting Started If you’re new to sand workouts, start out on wet sand. Wet sand is firmer and provides a more stable base of support. Exercise on level sand. Running and jumping on a slope puts you in an awkward position that could cause injury. It’s crucial to stay hydrated before, during and after outdoor workouts. So. be sure to drink before you exercise, and then every 10-20 minutes during exercise or more depending on sweat loss. Beach Exercises 1. Spiderman Crawl Begin at one end in plank position and lower your body toward the sand. Simultaneously reach forward and laterally with your left hand as you draw your right knee toward your right hand. Keep your hips low and your abdominals braced. [embed]https://youtu.be/_K7rv_vFOWM[/embed] Repeat with the opposite hand/knee and continue alternating to cover the marked-off distance and back. 2. Push-up Shoulder-ups Begin in an upright plank, with your hands wider than shoulder-width distance apart. Lower into a push-up and return to plank position. [embed]https://youtu.be/jfNE9_dJN7w[/embed] Next, raise your hips and lower your chin to keep your gaze at your feet. Lower the crown of your head toward the sand, all while keeping your legs and torso ridged. Push back up through your shoulders until your arms are almost completely straight. 3. Ice Skaters Begin with your knees bent and your torso upright. With your right foot, take the first step at a 45-degree angle forward; try not to let the back leg touch the sand. Keep weight in the hip, position the knee behind the toe and push off onto your other foot at a 45-degree angle. [embed]https://youtu.be/O_DzJ2_9bjM[/embed] Your left arm follows forward with the right leg to propel the body forward. The right arm will do the same with the left leg as the weight shifts off the right hip. “Skate” 20 steps forward and return back to the starting point before moving on to the next exercise. 4. Cross-under Planks Begin in an upright plank position with your hands under your shoulders, your legs straight and your core braced. [embed]https://youtu.be/kS11zGL-VH4[/embed] Bring your right leg under your body toward your left hand by twisting the core, again keeping your leg straight and foot flexed. 5. Frog Jumps Begin in a low-squat position. Draw both arms backward and explode forward by swinging your arms and jumping forward. Land softly to catch your balance and repeat. [embed]https://youtu.be/C54LoE13DUo[/embed] Continue to frog jump from one end of your marked distance to the other and back before moving on to the next exercise. 6. Bicycle Crunch Balance just above your tailbone and flex your torso, knees and arms into 90-degree angles. Straighten your right leg while reaching your right arm forward to mimic a running gait. [embed]https://youtu.be/9FGilxCbdz8[/embed] Use your core to keep your torso upright as you balance and draw in each leg. Try to complete 30 reps! 7. Crab Walk Begin seated facing the starting point. Keep both knees bent and place your hands on the sand under your shoulders. Lift your hips off the ground as high as possible. [embed]https://youtu.be/I-3r4cl4ahA[/embed] Flexing at the ankle, begin pulling through your hamstrings and pushing with your upper body. Take small, quick steps to avoid injury to your wrists. Sun Care Working out on the beach can leave you sandy, sweaty and, quite possibly, with a sunburn. But we have just the treatment for you. The Spa at The Palms Turks and Caicos's Sun Rejuvenation Wrap is aimed at healing sun-exposed skin and helps to restore moisture and balance to the skin's layers. The treatment begins with a light dry brushing which is followed by an application of mint, cucumber, yogurt, honey and lemon. To allow the deeply soothing qualities of these ingredients to penetrate the skin, your body is wrapped in a blanket while your therapist provides a calming massage to your face and scalp. You will leave The Spa with supple and moisturized skin. You can book your spa experience online anytime you like! Fitness Centre The Palms Resort is also home to a world-class indoor gym. The Fitness Centre at The Palms, located in the Spa building, offers Cybex and Technogym equipment, complete with audio and visual screens as well as free weights. Personal training, private and group classes for Pilates and Yoga are available.

What's New at The Palms Resort Turks & Caicos in 2018?
We are so pleased to share an update of what's new at The Palms Resort Turks & Caicos for 2018. After a challenging Fall season on Providenciales, the resort is back in full swing with many upgrades to ensure your stay on Grace Bay Beach is luxurious, sophisticated and brimming with fun experiences. How is the Turks and Caicos after Hurricane Irma? In September 2017 two Category 4 hurricanes hurtled through the Caribbean Islands devastating the islands of Barbuda and St. Martin and causing severe damage to the British Virgin Islands, Dominica and Puerto Rico. Providenciales suffered its share of infrastructure damage, which was minor in comparison, and for days electricity and water were not available. However, the island has mostly recovered from the impact of both hurricanes Irma and Maria with most hotels and restaurants open for business, and the beaches of Grace Bay and Long Bay looking even better than ever before. All airlines servicing Providenciales International Airport (PLS) have also resumed service, and demand for accommodation on the island is flourishing. The color of this water still takes our breath away! #turksandcaicos #providenciales #palmsparadise #luxury #travel @uniquetravelbycorinne A post shared by The Palms Resort Turks & Caicos (@thepalmstc) on Nov 16, 2017 at 8:36am PST Read more: Caribbean travel after Irma and Maria: essential information How is The Palms Resort and its Staff? Fortunately every member of our team was safe during the hurricanes. Help Staff at The Palms Turks and Caicos Recover from Hurricane Irma
We have created this fund to assist our staff members at The Palms who have either lost roofs or entire homes and belongings following the catastrophic devastation of Hurricane Irma in certain areas on the island. Hurricane Irma and Providenciales On September 7, Hurricane Irma passed by the island of Providenciales. It was a very intense storm that brought with it high winds and rainfall, as well as a storm surge. Luckily, The Palms resort and beautiful Grace Bay Beach emerged relatively unscathed, and we're on track to opening for the season as scheduled. While the beach and the resort were lucky, a lot of our good fortune is due to the hard efforts of our excellent staff. Staff at The Palms not only prepared the resort to withstand the hurricane, but they were incredibly helpful afterward by taking care of any remaining guests, as well as other visitors to Providenciales. We're really thankful to have such a dedicated team of people who care so much. However, while The Palms will be fine, many of our staff were more severely affected by Hurricane Irma Most of the hardest hit areas on the island were inhabited by our staff: Blue Hills, Kew Town, Five Cays and other settlements. Some of our staff have experienced life-changing events such as: Serious damage to or have lost the roof to their own home Damage so serious to their rental accommodation that they must find a new home until repairs are made There are also staff with homes that have been completely destroyed and are without any reliable housing now. Assist Staff Rebuilding Their Homes and Their Lives Following in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, we are creating a fund so that you may contribute to assist some of our staff in rebuilding their homes and their lives. As mentioned, some have lost part of their roofs, some have lost truly everything. donate button Not only will these funds be used for supplies and materials to rebuild but also assistance in doing so. Anything you are able to contribute will be greatly appreciated! The donation campaign is being hosted on Generosity, a community for showing and sharing compassion through socially conscious fundraising. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
