10 Kids' Activities Close to Our Grace Bay Beach Resort
From May 1 through August 31, 2017, The Palms is one of the only all-inclusive resorts on Providenciales. We're right on beautiful Grace Bay Beach, and we have a wonderful pool. Why would you ever want to leave? But if your family likes to explore, there are plenty of thing to do close by.
Here are ten kids activities close to our Grace Bay Beach resort.
1. Snorkel Coral Gardens
Also known as Bight Reef, the Coral Gardens snorkeling area is just a short walk down the beach from our resort. Since the depth of the water ranges from 3 to 16 feet, coral gardens is perfect for families and is one of the most popular snorkeling areas in Providenciales.
The reef extends 350 feet out from Grace Bay beach and tends to have a large number of tame fish, as well as sea turtles, eagle rays and spiny lobsters.
2. Go Visit the National Environmental Centre and Play at Bight Park
Located adjacent to the Bight Reef and Grace Bay Beach, the National Environmental Centre includes exhibits that explain the natural and cultural history of the Turks and Caicos. There is no entrance fee and it's a great way to learn more about the islands.
There is also a Children's Park at the Bight with slides and swings, and a place to buy refreshments.
3. Visit Potcake Place
‘Potcake’ is the name given to the dogs of the Turks and Caicos Islands and the nearby Bahamas archipelago. The name came about because the locals fed the caked remains of the cooking pot to their dogs.

In response, Potcake Place is a charity on Providenciales that has been established to help stray potcake dogs on Providenciales.
If you want to play with or walk a potcake, head over the Potcake Place during your stay. It's located in Saltmills Plaza in the Grace Bay area of Providenciales.
4. Go Horseback Riding
Provo Ponies is a small and popular riding stable located quite close to The Palms resort. The stable leads popular horseback tours right on the beach in a quiet and wild part of Providenciales.
Depending on the tide, the pony rides go right out into the shallow turquoise water, presenting a tremendous view of the Caicos Bight to the south. It makes for a memorable experience.
5. Spend an Afternoon at the Pool
One of the great things about family vacations is that you don't have to do anything if you don't want to. You don't even have to think of ways to entertain your children, thanks to our beautiful pool.
Plan an afternoon at the pool. Sip drinks while your children enjoy themselves.
6. Plan a Family Dinner
Most of our suites at The Palms resort include a full kitchen. And, thanks to several full-service supermarkets close by, this means you can plan a wonderful family dinner.
The Palms also offers a personal chef service for in-suite dining.
7. Visit Iguana Island
Little Water Cay (aka "Iguana Island") is a pleasant day trip from The Palms resort. The island gets its name from the colony of friendly rock iguanas that live there.
The iguanas are used to human visitors and often rush over to greet guests. They're very friendly, and, as herbivores, are perfectly harmless. Contact our concierge for more information about this delightful family day trip from Providenciales.
8. Take a Trip to the Conch Farm
Billed as the "world's only farm devoted to cultivating conches", the Caicos Conch Farm is another family-friendly activity near our resort. Queen Conch is a local delicacy and staple food enjoyed by many locals. It's also a key export from the Turks and Caicos.
The thirty-minute tour of the Conch Farm provides a good overview of the life cycle of the conch, and also provides lessons about ecology and environmental sustainability.
9. Jump Off the Pier

10. Take Advantage of Our Kids Club on Grace Bay Beach
The Palms resort also offers a fantastic Kids Club that will keep your children busy having fun. Designed to entertain our younger guests, the Conch Kritters Club offers complimentary half-day and full-day scheduled activities.
This allows you to relax by the pool, take a spa day, and generally enjoy some adult down time.
For the kids, there's a clubhouse for indoor fun and a range of beach toys and floats for outdoor activities.
